Pink is the colour

I've let you down with few piccies on the blog so far, the other blogs I read have many photos.
I don't have instagram to make everything look pretty and the crummy iphone camera is crummy. Anyway, despite my tools' limitations (and my own) I have made best endeavours today. And there's a theme. TA-DAH!

I was bleating on about frugal living and how virtuous I'd been in an earlier post but I was naughty on Monday morning.

I present the Starbucks tall latte.
I succumbed because I cottoned on to the fact that tall lattes were £1.50/£1.70 on Mondays in Jan. Monday was the last chance to get in on the offer in January + my colleague was off so I was covering her work  = sucker felt she needed a coffee to perk her up. It was gooood.

My hand cream, which is also the hand cream for half a dozen other ladies at work. Smells lovely and hopefully is quietly working its magic.

Ikea whisk postcard

Pink postcard has lived on the wall for about 3 years. Its a "temporary" wall decoration because its only a rented flat and we will move on soon...3 years later I have NOW got some nice photos and frames to replace their space on the wall.

Lovely perfumes. Prada Candy has a very gourmande smell of caramel/chocolate. Not for every day.
Marc Jacobs Daisy looks great on the dresser and has a nice light smell.

I was going to add another photo of my gorgeous duck egg/pink dunelm mill duvet from their site but its not working.

Hope you like the pretty in pink photos.

Need colour

Hello,

Had a wonderful weekend of being spoiled at my parents house. Was brilliant to catch up with them and other family.
Friday was an ok day too but I made poor wardrobe choices that really did not help turn ok into brilliant and I felt a bit washed out.

They grey nails were the tip of the iceberg. I think the colour looks ok against the backdrop of the mirror frame and seen next to a nice blue/purple/red/orange/any colour would have been great. Alas they were not.

My feet were shoed up in these. Grey with silver tips. I have had these shoes for 2 years and have contemplated getting rid of them a couple of times. They are painful and I cannot walk in them so it should have been an easy decision but I struggle getting rid of excess stuff.

So we have an outfit of grey shoes, grey nail varnish, grey jumper,  black and white aztec-type skirt and silver jewellery. This top-to-toe grey mistake has confirmed to me that I'm not a neutrals person. I avoid black to a certain extent and I am now certain that other neutrals also drain me when worn alone and I must embrace colour every day.

To assist in this, those grey shoes are being removed from my possession. They are sat on the red ikea rug waiting for tomorrow morning to be escorted off the premises. You see - I do allow colour in the home!

I really must take more time to plan outfits and pull together clothes that make me happy and confident, I don't allow time for this planning in the morning normally which is the problem! The answer is of course to take 5 mins the evening before. Simple and quick but its the motivation lacking. I've got Monday sorted for the coming week so I'm going to take it from there.

I feel whacked this evening..too much relaxation obviously.

munchies and kind of NY resolutions

Hello.

Look what I made! A non-traditional Sunday lunch and Monday night tea.
Homemade cheese and onion quiche with baked beans. Yu-um

Yesterday evening passed with a blur. Amazing how fast time flies when you have big bang theory (ok), hinterland (brilliant), new the middle (ok, not the best, had v high hopes), 13 going on 30  or whatever its called (utter cr*p) to watch. Hence the blur.

However, I am quite pleased with myself about one mini achievement.

An Andy Warhol painting that is in the British Museum
I read a few frugal blogs and their experience, opinions and know-how do have a mild influence on my thinking. Anyway, one of the basic baby step frugal moves is to make your own lunch for work. I've managed it since the return to work after Xmas. I am so pleased that I've done this and, although its a small thing, these "no spend days" - see I speak the lingo- really do add up and means there's no drip drip of money from the cashpoint or debit card.

I have to say I don't have frugal intentions with this money, I'm going to use it for having better times and experiences on my precious weekends with my DB and mateys.

See you LZ x

weekend DONE

Hello.
Missed posting yesterday - spend those 90mins watching superman man of steel. I give it only 1/10. That shapely sculpted 1 is for Superman's bod. Apart from that give it a miss.

Had some great time this weekend making the most of our free time and our city. I struggle some times living in Manchester. Sorry MCR! But we live here so lets enjoy it.

Enjoyed by filling my face...mmmmmmmmmmmm not a bad job almost famous burger. That is a double cheese burger with bacon, chorizo and crispy onions. On the right is a triple nom with pulled pork on top. Gorgeous in a word.

I liked the burger but the fries were the most impressive bit: some type of seasoned fries with crispy bacon n baconaise sauce thing. Those fries were the best part of the meal.

Washed down with diet coke and ginger beer. Oh ginger beer u taste so good but your acidic heartburn effect is so cruel.

We then did a tiny bit of shopping. Manchester does have good shopping.
I tried out my new purchase.

Yoga mat for my yoga homework. I managed 1 practise sesh between classes. Onward and upward.

2 best days

Started the weekend with my Belgian friend.

It is my current favourite beer. They do a brun/brown flavour too but blonde is the best. It was enjoyed with freezer fish, beans and wedges...Yes I was pooped and no cooking was being done by this woman.

I then proceeded to chill out and switch off with my current virtual box set courtesy of Sky+.

Image from imdb.com
I am only on series 1 and about half way through. I'm so pleased that there are 24 episodes per series - loads of housewife drama and treachery to keep me going through this peak hibernation time.

Make the most of the weekend.

Friday eve

First Zumba of 2014 done and dusted!

It rather rudely involved PLANKS,which I could have done without, but I managed them so I could shovel down some nice hairy bikers chilli con carne when I got in.

I managed to drink 4 of these pints during work + bottle during zumba. Bravo me. What a hydrated day. Actual photo from work with actual purple desk divider thing.
Will now be having a twinings
This purple boxed peppermint and nettle tea is perfecto for a hot drink of an evening when an alcohol drink is not to hand.

Catch u on the weekend

ps. I hate those blinds too but this is a rented flat so please don't think poorly of me because of them.

#2 getting some practise in

Here we are....Tuesday already done!
I was busy yesterday evening and today is just a TV night - I have series linked big bang theory since Xmas as I've finally got with the programme and love it now we're on series 6, so ALOT of quality programmes to watch. Yay.

I feel quite frantic as we're on 14th Jan and I have no holiday booked for the year. What if all the good holiday slots get booked and I'm stuck with a week here and there? I forgot to put going on holiday as my #1 interest in interests. It is! Lucky enough to do Florida last year which was one of my best holidays. I would go again this year only I won't go same place in a row.
Stupid rule. I want cocktails in Miami and butterbeer in harry potters village...(Hogsmead? whatever its called) and I want to be delighted by fireworks 4 nights in a row. Anyway focussing on the present/soon-to-be-present I will get my holiday sorted by week-on-Friday starting with 81 hard-earned smacarooonees for my new passport and to get it checked by the lovely post office ladies.

Monday looked like this photo during the 6 short n sweet minutes I spent outside between work and the postbox. Very refreshing and added to my little eye wrinkles slightly because it was bright and I didn't have sunnies with.

TV is calling. Toodle-oo

Weekend with friends

First ever blog post!

Had awesome weekend with friends in a city gel way on Saturday.
Went to Slattery patissier and chocolate shop finally after living in Manchester for eons. Sooo good. Had Mrs Slatterys taster cake plate: carrot cake, lemon cake, fruit cake, bakewell tart. I had a cup of tea to balance out the sugar overload. Absolutely gorgeous. Chose a lush strawberry tort for my lovely boyf.

Was then planning on changing a cardigan that was a not-quite-right Xmas pressie.
We all went to town together.  changed the cardigan in New Look for a blue aztec t-shirt. Looks best tucked in. Blue goes really well with pink according to new look and either oasis/warehouse shop windows....I am pending a pink jacket for a nice Spring purchase. Next thing to buy.

After mooching round the shops for a couple of  hours we needed further refreshment so went to the Proper Tea tea room. It was at this point that I took a quite disappointing photo as I'd decided I was going to start a blog whilst drinking.

Despite being in a tea room I had an americano, which I regret as you can see the little taster cup of Vanilla Cacao tea. Really nice and made me have drink envy. Also my friend H who was next to me said that you have to inhale through your nose whilst sipping to get the full on flavour. We all know herbal teas smell better than taste but this really seemed to counteract it.
Pic of my americano - you can see the little egg tea timer - 3 different egg timers for mild, medium and well brewed. Such a great idea and new to me.

I think I'm done for my first post.

Please work so I don't have to re-write.
